ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

Department of Mechanical Engineering of Calcutta Institute of Technology, Uluberia, Howrah, West Bengal, India has started its journey with an intake of 60 students per annum both in diploma and B. Tech courses. Department of Mechanical Engineering provides a student-focused, hands-on approach to engineering education, producing graduates who are highly sought after not only by employers, but also the universities across the nation. In both Diploma and B. Tech courses, the main aim of the Department is to develop expertise in many areas, including Manufacturing, Design, Thermal/Fluid sciences, and solid mechanics. The Sophisticated Laboratories on Fluid Mechanics, Hydraulic Machines, Material Testing, Automobile, I.C Engine, Heat Transfer, Heat Power, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, Metrology & Measurement, AutoCAD, Catia, Ansys, Matlab, Workshop Practice that provide a sound base for research and academic activities.The might of the Department, apart from its Students, is its Qualified and Experienced Faculty/Staff members. Faculties are actively engaged in Teaching and mentoring students apart from perusing their research activities in the emerging fields of engineering. The department has a resourceful team of faculty who regularly engage in publishing highly technical papers in reputed International Journals, Books, Book Chapters etc. Besides, they have also attended International Conferences, Technical workshops, NPTEL courses, seminars organized by various technical institutes. Mechanical Engineering Department has also introduced a general and technical aptitude classes for the students to prepare themselves for the various government and GATE exams from this year onward. The department also provides mock interview lessons to the students for the preparation of the job interview.
